Police Record Searches

Okay... I understand that the public has to be protected from people who want to break the law and take advantage of them. And police record checks should be called for in places where children might get hurt... But, I think they've gone overboard.... you need a criminal record check to drive cab. And us Canadians don't mind that we have to have the check because we're traditionally a kind, obedient people and would never break the law.!!!..So where is this money going? You're handing a cheque to the cops and it's going into their coffers. Hell, they get enough of our money by handing out traffic tickets and fines and now they want to get more of our money to do record checks.... It's ridiculous! If they are going to continue to do this then give the money back to the community. And I don't mean Tim Hortons. Some employment agencies could probably use it to put some of our people back to work... the state of the economy warrants a better allocation of funds... Now, I'm not a convict lover but, when they've done their time and get out of jail.... how will they gain employment... a record check nullifies their chances... And the worse thing about it is that we'll have to pay again to re-incarcerate them because they won't be able to make a living and will eventually commit crimes to survive.
